Gorta and the Millennium Development Goals

In the year 2000, the heads of State and Government of 189 countries gathered at United Nations Headquarters to sign the Millennium Declaration.

They committed to the achievement of eight goals, flowing from this Declaration, aimed at reducing poverty and other forms of human deprivation in the developing world.

These are known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and the deadline set for their achievment is 2015.

During 2009, Gorta has been working as part of the global effort towards achieving the MDGs.
