This movie scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. Now... I just laugh at how silly it is. But it still has a great suspense and story.

Ants are not intelligent in the sense of Neural intelligence, they are intelligent in the sense of Social intelligence; a single ant is prey to other insects but a colony is a predator. Computer intelligence will most likely be a type of neural network linked in a "social" grid to give the limited analytical power of a single computer translated to a society as a collective intelligence. that would be truly formidable.
