In 2004, La Lucarne was born, a group of sports and culture aficionados centered around Mustapha Terki, co-founder of MEG Montréal and the Escales improbables, Ernesto Oña, film director, and Benoît Trouillot, soccer manager. This group's desire: create events where those two universes meet, create binding ties between cultural and sporting events. Many activities are already in the works for this year in 2006.
From June 5th to June 11th 2006, La Lucarne presents, in collaboration with the Cinémathèque québécoise, the Goethe-Institut and TV5, les Rencontres Internationales cinéma et sport de Montréal. This new and unique quebecois rendez-vous seizes the occasion of the World Cup of Football, which is held June 9th to July 9th in Germany, to offer 18 films on and around football (soccer) : two works of fiction and sixteen documentaries from 11 countries, with the presence of French director Jean Christophe Rosé who will be presenting three of his movies.
Sensitive, beautiful, intelligent and irresistible movies will be shown. Wether you are passionate about soccer or not. Because certain destinies transcend segmentations. Because a move by Zinédine Zidane bears a likeness to art.
