Gypsy Jazz with May Bittel - "Manoir De Mes Rêves"
My friend May Bittel is a legendary Swiss Gypsy guitarist - but he is mainly a Pastor and a very active political activist fighting for the protection and rights of Gypsies in Switzerland and the world. He seldom performs in public nowadays except within his community and congregation, so this was an exceptional little event. He is accompanied by my friends John Intrator on the violin, and Jacques Kralian on the rhythm guitar.

May Bittel's son Dany Bittel is also a remarkable guitarist and has his own career - you can find him on MySpace where you can hear some of his music - http://www.myspace.com/danybittelquartet
I encourage you to buy his CD.
Swiss Gypsies are called Yenish, but there are also many Manouches and Sintis living in Switzerland, as well as Rroms and Tziganes.
Thanks for these videos Vierotchka. The crackling sounds are actually from the chairs we were sitting on. :-)

Hey! What a nice surprise - you on YouTube! The crackling sounds don't appear in my original videos, it must be something about YouTube's processing that brought them to the surface. So, now you're on a handful of videos on YouTube, so you are famous! At last! :D

The crackling sounds are not on my original video - I don't know where they came from, probably from YouTube's video processing.
