My 71 VW Type Three Fastback, Engine Misfire

Something is up with my engine, I just static timed it and fixed the vac advance. The problem is that it seems to be running on two cyninders. As the video shows when I take off the 1 and 3 spark plug wires the engine keeps on idling without any change. If 2 or 4 is taken off it dies. Not sure what it could be...

@mainlinestopage I ended up selling the car a while ago and I hadn't figured it out. It wasn't knocking as far as I remember. Someone said that I needed a balance tube between the carbs and that would help the problem.

clogged carb had the same problem with mine

mine was running on two and it happened to be a vacuum leak. I sprayed some carb cleaner on the vacuum lines and my engine revved up, so I just replaced the line and it runs perfect now.

Cylinders 2 and 4 are not firing for some reason. First off, ascertain that you havent simply swapped the leads on those cylinders. If not, then I would agree to test the HT leads and the plugs on those cylinders.
