Just trying out my new Walsh shuttle pipes in A. Hope you can ignore the expression errors in the tune...new pipes and I haven't played the second tune in a while!

  • G'day Milpiper, im thinking about buying some walsh shuttle pipes would you recommend them?

  • @andrewmunro44 - I guess my question back to you is: Are you already playing the pipes? Walsh shuttlepipes are a less complex entry point into playing "smallpipes"...but not a shortcut to piping. If you don't have or are struggling with piping skills this will only make things difficult. Here's a good example of what I mean: . The short answer is that if you are already an established piper, go for it. If not, get a practice chanter and an instructor first!

  • @andrewmunro44 - I meant to post a youtube video as an example of a poor "piper" with shuttlepipes-- can't figure out how to do it, so do a search on these two keywords: shuttlepipes lucaskapow

It'll be the top video (bald woman with shuttlepipes).

  • Very nice playing!

I was wondering where I could find the scores to these two songs? I own a set of Walsh A-2000's, and I've always wanted to try playing some reels and hornpipes

  • Sorry for the delay...life has kept my attention away from YouTube. I'll see if I can find the scores for these two tunes and get them to you. Please feel free to 'remind' me if you don't see them soon.

  • I love your choice of tunes. And as for form well personally I don't think it matters how good or bad someone's technicality is so long as it makes music that sounds as good as this!! Smallpipes rock!

  • Thanks...although I would have to say that the technical execution makes the music musical. Not just the technical movements, but the expression. A great tune will be quickly ruined with poor execution. Even this example (these tunes) weren't well executed...lost of technical errors and expression rushing. You should check out 'The Hick Mick'...Ryan nails his tunes on the Shuttle pipes!
