Michelle Alexander keynotes in an organizing benefit for the 3-Strikes campaign. In The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, Professor Alexander traces the rebirth of the racial caste system in the US through mass incarceration. She calls for a multi-racial grassroots movement for cultural change as the only way to end mass incarceration - and finally, Jim Crow.

The evening begins with short presentations by champions of recent historic developments in Washington state that hold promise to reduce racial disparity in our criminal justice system. It concludes with an organizing session.
