Pinkamena Diane Pie's psychotic breakdown music from the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode Party of One, recreated in Mario Paint Composer.

MPC pony song #16 was a real doozy to toy with. Background music is often subtle and richly textured in ways that the MPC can't handle flawlessly. Regardless, I like how this turned out a lot! It's just batty enough to work, and the bit of improvisation that I ordered up turns the piece into a slightly aerier composition. Make no mistake: Will Anderson's music is a *tremendous* boon to the show, and interviewing him for Equestria Daily was a definite pleasure. Thanks as always, Will!

Music composed by William Anderson.

Hasbro owns My Little Pony and all related characters and indicia. I make no ownership claims of the aforementioned.

This particular MPC pony song is dedicated to a piece of art. Yes, you read that right. My best friend in the world, Frostheart The Siamese, drew a fantastic rendition of Pinkie's "friends" from Party of One, ponified. Frosty, I *still* cannot get over how fantastic that drawing turned out! =D Love you, Equestria Girl!

The drawing in question, Party of Four, may be found here: http://frostheartissiamese.deviantart.com/art/Party-of-Four-215031697

  • My god, this is wonderful. I keep hitting the replay button! If I knew Mario Paint were capable of such beauty and awe, I would've tried picking it up...

And you've improvised very well! I can't help but picture Pinkie's party of one as an 8-bit cutscene when listening to this.

    A wonderful job, keep composing!

  • @bChrond

I'm extremely heartened and encouraged by your feedback, thanks! ^_^

I'd totally go for an 8-bit rendition of Pinkie's psychotic party, a la Maniac Mansion...

  • This translates pretty amazingly into MPC, I must say. =D Or is it just you? Who knows. This is surprisingly frightening. Although it's fairly tame if you watch the video itself of the MPC running, if you think of Pinkamena plotting against her friends... (shudders)

That reminds me, what happened to using Nature Wind's wallpapers as images for your videos? I can think of a couple that would have worked pretty well, or even better, that amazing drawing in your video description...

  • @SwiveeCakePop

Thanks, Swivee! ^^ It's probably the MPC - that is, Mario's Psychotic Composer. o_o And I daresay simply leaving the feed black might've intensified the horror... Also, I plan to keep using Nature Wind's wallpapers (as well as Frosty's drawings, whenever they fit well) once I can find the time and drive to put together a short intro sequence with a title slide and image identifier for each upload. The MPC feed itself is a 'Net-wide standard that I won't be disregarding anymore.

  • @Tekaramity

I don't see a lot of appeal to the MPC feed, but I can understand why people would want it that way. =/

Anyway, it's nice to see you haven't completely abandoned the use of images. ^-^ I believe that a feed that was black and maybe had brief flashing images of Pinkamena talking to her 'friends' or something along those lines would have been pretty spooky, although that would require some special effects that are probably a bit of overkill for MPCing.

  • @SwiveeCakePop

I don't see *any* appeal to the MPC feed, but it's such an overwhelming standard that I've decided to conform to it. Regardless, I'm definitely looking into retaining the drawings & wallpapers in *some* small fashion. =) Thanks for your support of them, honestly. ^.^ Also, I've considered "PMV"-ing these uploads, though the effort *would* require a rather large time investment that I'm not really willing to commit. Super neat idea, yes! Super free time consumer too, alas. ^^

  • This is excellent, Tek! I especially love the kerspasmy bass drum mushrooms going on in there. This piece translated surprisingly effectively to MPC.

  • Am I in Lavender Town?

  • Parts of this make me think of Witchyworld from Banjo Tooie. Conveniently, a messed up creepy carnival.

  • makes me think creepy cranival

  • Even creepier in Mario Paint.

  • Looks like cave music in pokemon
