Thanks Pepper for providing sweet SFX!

Extra NOTE: There are many ways to animate in Blender. My way is sloppy I have to admit, but it works. I highly suggest spending time on http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Main_Page and also http://blenderartists.org/forum/ to learn to animate!

Take care!

  • I like your layered approach,I cannot understand how you can plant the feet that have been animated in place when you move the whole model later on using a master null/bone,is it something like "offset repeat" somehow calculated on the distance between each step?

    Or something simpler ?

  • @theonlyreallaz Hey, this is one of the sloppy shortcuts. I would loop the clip in the NLA Editor for however long I needed and animate the Master to move the character. Many video game character feet positions are not accurate and sometimes you'll even walk in place if you get stuck. But ultimately we don't notice or care. This sort of shortcut can save you time when telling a story, but might not pass at Pixar. In the end, as long as it gets the point across who cares?

  • @ShaneNewville I care a lot about slipping feet,I was hoping that Blender had something to automatically calculate it,I cannot remember if LightWave or Animation Master have it.

I'm giving a try to Blender coming from Cinema 4D but it's becoming every day harder.

    Thanks anyway : )

  • @theonlyreallaz Most 3d app can do it but you have to set it up with IK/FK switches. Right now I am using Poser Pro for animation. The rigs come pre-setup with IK/FK. It comes if very handy. But really it only matters if the feet are visible in a shot or if it is noticeable.

  • hey dude i have posted road breaking file on blender artist in animation forum

  • @dragoneexx Thanks! Got the file. Will check it out as soon as I can get some time. I'm actually working in Poser for animation now, but I still use Blender. Can alway use more knowledge right? Keep animating. I know you mentioned being busy with work. Same here. I used to need to get in "the zone" to be able to do animations. But now I just don't have that option. Full-time work, family, babies, more work at home, etc...So I try to take what little time I get and make the best of it. Peace

  • where I can download that?

  • Mind Boggling!

  • @ShaneNewville now Cinema 4D R13 has CMotion an autorig with something like an automatic walk but it sucks,I've used EasyWalker which is much user friendly but it doesn't allows you to have a velocity that is not constant along the path.

Here is my best result so far :

    watch?v=qjtU_dYWHjg

my next step will be to learn to mix the animation clips, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

  • Crap ! LOL... what an ending.

  • 0:35 --HELP ME!!!

Dont worry we got this!!! *try animate a character* .. *sigh*

haha nice video man, those are funny and well animated, your the blenderman! :P

  • @pologlobal i would use 3ds max but only for its render engine and physics nothing else i like blender
