lol lorikeet tongues are so gross! I used to have one. can't believe how expensive they are in America, maybe like $100 max for a hand raised here in Australia. Tho birds like conures are $400+ and macaws/greys $5,000+.

@pcred562 - Eating nectar is what their tongues are designed for, but I think my lorikeet gets some sick enjoyment from watching me squirm after she lulls me into thinking I'm getting preened (it is an odd but strangely relaxing feeling to be preened), then she will launch a sneak attack and stick her tongue in my ear or occasionally up my nose. It sends the worst of shivers down my spine but she always has this superior, evil glint in her eyes afterwards...
