a single swallow bird (Eurasian Crag Martin - Hirondelle de Rochers - Ptyonoprogne rupestris) doing really wild work at SNCF station in Villefranche Sur Mer (France)
100% speed, then edited @ 25%, then selected scenes @ 12.5%

**** ENJOY THE TRIP ****

hints to catch on video this sort of action:
- don't look into the camera, just point it towards the bird while looking at it with your bare eyes
- think in birdish
- stay inside "the zone" (zen gadgetry)

---Rewiring
Rewiring refers to the process of increasing peripheral nervous system transmission speed by increasing Ranvier nodes distance along axons. Factors as high as 10 in speed increase have been demonstrated in vitro, while on actual alive organism more conservative figures of 3-5 are maintained as a safety margin for collateral issues.
Schwann cells wrap the axon at regular intervals, sheeting it with myelin. Ranvier nodes occours at the interface of each Schwann cell. As myelin is electrical insulator, conduction occours only at Ranvier nodes in a process commonly called "saltatory conduction". The triggering of each adjacent node taking a finite amount of time, signal speed along the axon is basically a function of distance between nodes themselves.
Ranvier nodes distance can be increased in basically two different ways:
- Discrete: by clogging a Ranvier node with myelin after a number of them
- Continous: by reshaping the whole axon pathway with larger Schwann cells
Discrete method is quicker to apply, is local (e.g. only a specific bundle of axons can be treated) but has given mixed results in practice mainly due to desynchronisation and destabilisation of the whole peripheral nervous system somehow structural with the method. Continous method may take from three to nine months to fully apply, is global (e.g. the whole peripheral nervous system undergoes the treatment) and has been fully assessed only in prototype system DARKSWAN-KRFX01 which has been lost since for collateral damage (not directly related to the treatment itself but by the use of the system later on)
