And remember never to switch the power on or off at the plug unless you've switched the amp off.

yeah all you need to do is make sure the microphone has a 1/4 inch jack, they are the same jacks as guitar cables, just plug your amp in. run a guitar cable to the distortion pedal and put the microphone cable in the output jack of your distortion pedal. It should work perfectly.
