Paul Sondrini of Gracie Barra Idaho demonstrates 172 techniques during his BJJ Purple Belt test. He also had 6 sparring matches with 2 Blue Belts, 2 Purple Belts, and 2 Brown Belts. The entire test took approximately 3 hours for Paul to complete. This is Part 1 of 3.

For a BJJ blue/purple belt, he knows a lot of takedowns. A rarity in modern BJJ schools. Good to see BJJ going back to its roots to Japanese Ju-Jitsu/Judo. Good stuff! Keep it up!

@kosenjudo They do forget but a rule that I am personally not a fan of "pulling guard" stops the BJJ player from performing a good throw hence many schools do not even practice it at all. All they practice is how to safely pull guard. This is the same case with several modern Judo schools. They teach basic (at most blue belt BJJ) ground game and do not go further into details simply because in Judo, it's easier to win by a throw then a submission or a pin. The rules ruins the art.
