  • @splaticon5 Thank you for your comments. I haven't heard of Bjorn Berge before, but I'll look him up. Good luck on your guitar playing. Like anyone, you have to try something before you can master it. Maybe you will become good enough that you will post your music on youtube. I'm glad that I've created another Kottke fan.

  • Thanks for putting 8 miles high over the 1000 viewer mark

  • @ndogg20 I'm sorry to read that your musical career was squashed at such a tender age. Granted Leo is a great musician. Yet I think you gave up to early. Who's to know if you wouldn't have surpassed the teacher......grasshopper. It's never to late to try. Then you won't have to live with any what if's. Oh, by the way, thanks for leaving a comment.

  • @AWSH17 Thanks for visiting my video and for your comment. I thought I did a decent job of making this video entertaining and providing an opportunity to listen to Leo's - 8 miles high. Congrats for being the first on my board.

  • Great Great Great Video Posts!

Been a Kottke fan for as long as I can remember.

Living and working in Buenos Aires, Argentina now.

Because of the subtitles you provide I've already started using the videos in my English classes. It's a very useful. The students get to work on their English while enjoying Leo's music.

The response has been entirely positive! Especially to this song. Thanks again!

  • This is a fabulously good video. I can guess at the amount of time it took - lots.

I especially love the contrast between the stark black-and-white photos of the verse sections and the psychedelia. This is perfect, because really, this recording is a bridge between stark roots music (as exemplified by the steel string guitar) and acid.

May I be so bold as to invite you, and any Kottke fans, to visit my Website? It's not music, it's history, but maybe you'll like it - historyaccessdotcom.

  • @lenardodivinci Some good Berge-vids: watch?v=3yD85IsonoM - watch?v=10KxXkNCzIg - watch?v=_A5nIPYLgKA

  • wonderfull

  • Norwegian guitarist Bjørn Berge (Kottke's biggest fan?) has also done a good cover of this cover. Don't know if it is on any of his records though, but he plays it live from time to time.

  • This is one of those songs I really would like to learn on guitar. It's hard but not impossible. From what I hear there are two guitars (plus bass and drum) in this recording, 12-string to the left and six-string to the right. Chords are also quite simple (although "simple" doesn't necessarily mean "easy".)

Anyways, thanks for putting this up. I'll probably end up buying some of Leos records because of these videos.

  • This is nice. The little video trip over the main guitar break was enjoyable.

  • This is the definite, most beautiful interpretation of this outstanding song !
