A trippy drive-in intermission video with visuals reminiscent of "Yellow Submarine" as well as a possible Beatles music connection: the background music sounds alot like "Come and get it" (audiences would mentally remember the lyrics which are quite appropriate considering the context). That 1970 pop song was originally performed by Badfinger but was actually written by Paul McCartney.
The commercial aspects (Pizza, Pepsi, a cow turning into a hamburger) ultimately overwhelm the art and leave a bad taste in the brain.

  • The music is actually a funky 1968/69-vintage organ instrumental of the Pepsi jingle of the time, "You've Got a Lot to Live, and Pepsi's Got a Lot to Give."

  • Thanks for the info, Tom Servo!

  • Heinz Edelmann is the best illustrator ever.

  • feels good man

  • The animation was in the Peter Max style. His style had a lot of influence on advertisement during the late sixties to the early seventies. This ad is typical of the time, circa 1969-70.

  • I love this, and the music! Is it just mor does the face at 0:06 look like Andy Warthol!

  • Yeah it was a nice time to be alive when this drive-in commercial was being shown. The only thing you had to worry about was being drafted or caught in a race riot. Groovy!!!

  • get it then

  • yes it does

  • this one is too negative

  • I know what you mean brother. I see how degrading TV is nowadays and movies as well. It was definitely a happier generation back then. Learn from your elders as soon as possible.

  • This comes out on VH1's documentary, The Drug Years. IN FULL DIGITAL QUALITY.
