Why bother with Constitutional Reform?

What's the difference between Charter Change and CoRRECT™?

In this interview, Ms. Roma Agsalud interviews me, the co-founder of the CoRRECT™ Movement in order to get the message out to RPN-9's viewers.

In case you want to learn more about Constitutional Reform or have issues or doubts or questions, read about what it is FIRST by checking out the following articles:

1) http://getrealphilippines.wordpress.com/basketcase

2) http://getrealphilippines.wordpress.com/philippineprogress

As expected, it is the Parliamentary System that most Filipinos DO NOT UNDERSTAND, and that is partly because mass media and the rumor mill has unfairly made Filipinos think wrong things about it without knowing the real score.

Well, before going against it, LEARN ABOUT IT FIRST. Do your research. Read the articles above and search for information on Google.

Stop thinking that it's all about "Term Extensions." That is the bogeyman that unscrupulous anti-reform people have thrown at it over and over again.

Who cares about how long a leader serves in office IF THAT LEADER DELIVERS? In a parliamentary system, it is difficult for incompetent people to emerge on top to become prime minister. And just in case an incompetent does get on top, it is extremely easy for him to get removed and replaced.

Just do your research if you have doubts. All these scare tactics about "term extension" are totally unfounded. It's time to get rid of the aversion to research. If you have questions, RESEARCH, don't just oppose and go against something that you don't understand.

  • sana tagalog sila nag-uusap aha.

  • @brgypulo RPN-9 is a specifically ENGLISH NEWS PROGRAM. Ang sabihan mo ay ang mga may-ari ng RPN-9. FYI, noong nasa Pilipinas ako, co-host ako ng Tagalog Socio-Political Commentary Show: Sentro ng Katotohanan. Kaya hindi problema ang pagtatagalog. Puede ko ring i-Cebuano kung kinakailangan.

  • We have to make even uneducated people understand this. For these are the majority of Philippine population. Parliamentary is better, as to negate our culture and balance out politicians' tendencies and have better results. But we need the support of the mass, the poor, the uneducated for this to really succeed. Educated people will find this easy to accept. If not, they're either uninformed or is part of the oligarchs in some way.

  • i suppose the fear is too ingrained re the scenario that GMA would use the parliamentary system to become prime minister, then pull favors or bully the rest of the cabinet to keep her in perpetuity. can you address this fear? i would really like to understand this topic more. thank you! :)

  • @nyldek Those who make up such stories are taking advantage of the fact that Filipinos are generally resistant to change or lazy to do proper RESEARCH to find out how parliamentary systems work. If Filipinos generally knew how it works, then we'd have already shifted long ago. By doing the proper research and making the effort to understand how it works, it will become very clear why a majority of US pol-sci PhD's observe that parliamentary systems are superior to presidential systems.

  • i am looking for cathy santillan and that gordon freeman glasses person. the old newswatch. cathy santillan was better looking compared to this.

  • If I may add, in terms of allowing foreign media to come to the country like CNN, FOX news etc....The oligarch owners of ABS-CBN, TV5 would be force to compete..... then the Philippines will have worthy and real news not showbiz news.

  • Can you imagine if we finally have the Constitutional Reform and with the removal of the 60/40 restrictions...how the Philippines could move forward?

Can you also imagine if a giant company like WALMART decided to open up multiple branches in the Philippines like what they started doing in China...how much jobs it could create? It will definitely compete with SM Shoemart...the end result is good competition, better service.

  • Siguro kasi they don't want to repeat the mistakes when the country was under a parliamentary system under Marcos which is a different case given the circumstances (dictatorship and all). That's probably the only research they had to back up their position against constitutional reform.

  • I strongly support CoRRECT.

DOWN WITH OLIGARCHS WHO CAUSED UNEMPLOYMENT!
