servo motors are good output devices for physical computing which gives precises angle of rotation when a right pulsing time is given to it. as i have done several sensor input and it's time now for me to get in touch with some sort of physical output. nothing new, just turn around a rubber duck (at 180 degree) when a knob is turned around. interactive installation exercise by kitdashit.com

  • OK but you can do the same thing with a potentiometer and a motor (and a duck). So what else can u do with an arduino contolled motor? I know u caqn control it from a computer but can u program it to make the motor move a certain amount? Have you seen any videos tutorials on this?

  • Do you live in a powerplant or a factory or something?

  • @angelofdahud you must'n know much about arduino

  • fucker

  • Need some help here. I don't know anything about rc stuff but I want to make a pan&tilt system for my camera. How exactly is this done? Do I just need a potentiometer, a servo and some batteries? Help is very much appreciated.

  • latency?

  • @toranamunter I'd buy that...

  • @angelofdahud

rc servos are controlled by PWM - so its pulse. The Arduino has a servo driver in the Servo.h which you can include and get rid of the problem to write such a software on your own and debug it.

The knob is a potentiometer. Again the pro of the Arduino: it has analog I/O pins. To read them out is very easy as well. So: the project is quite easy but thats the great advantage of the Arduino.

  • exactly how were you able to control the position of the servo with the knob? are you controlling the voltage? or is it the width of the pulse?

im assuming the knob is like a potentiometer.

  • I'm a beta tester for v2 of this kit. The duck scans the surrounding environment through 180 degrees. When an intruder is detected it has a burning CO2 laser head in its eyes. So far, it just brings hot burning death instantly, but in v3 you can activate an optional warning mode that will just amputate a finger or hand first as a warning, then if the intruder continues, hot burning death. The warning amputations are a legal requirement in some countries, before hot burning death mode activates.
