Air is accelerated through an annular aperture and over a 16° airfoil-shaped ramp, generating an uninterrupted stream of smooth air.

The impeller in the base of the Dyson Air Multiplier™ draws air in to the machine. Only 7% of the air generated actually passes through the impeller. 93% of the airflow comes from the patented technology we have developed.

I believe the term multiplier refers to the fact that 93% of the airflow comes from the surrounding environment and was not directly generated by the internal impeller. Whether or not you think their products are expensive or worthwhile, you have to admit that this is an awfully clever application of fluid dynamics. Furthermore, it's a very compact and modular design. I certainly wouldn't buy one, but I think it's a fantastic example of forward thinking.

Having inefficient technologies that only just get by to perform the intended function is NOT 'class' or anything to be jealous of in fact it is ridiculous and akin to liking Apple and 'Beats by Dr. Dre' products...

i am sure seeing it has 15X multiplication factor theoretically and expecting 10X pracrtically u require a lot of precision and so i expect it to be costly for production

and i do accept it is toohighly prced u can see that the cheap air multipliers online are just crap so cant blame the price

well i see a lot of people comparing this product with apple and saying that it is costly by looking at the design from an engineers point of view it is a great idea ppl might call it simple idea but it was dyson who got it and u ppl and if u see in the market there are a lot of cheap blade-less fans available if u have the guts just go and invest in them this very product is a engineering achievement it has all qualities of a masterpiece and to attain 15X air multiplication u require precision

Has anyone tried to implement this technology in large scale for planes or even model planes? imagine having planes fly without some big bulky engine to carry..

Like mix this technology with this type of plane synergy-aircraft-project on kickstarter
