A midsummer suddenly spread by strong winds fire, when occurred at Agia Efimia, Kefalonia, Greece, was extinguished by determined people, who did not want that disaster to reach their territory.
The local group of the Pylaros Environ and Disaster Protection Volunteers, reached the place of fire almost at the same time as the fire-fighters by air and land arrived at the small bay of Agia Efimia.
This 30 members group, which is based 2 km away from Agia Efimia, is consisted by locals of various ages, who stopped any of their running obligations in order to offer their service. These Volunteers, who are active in summer and winter, collaborate with local authorities in any need; have been praised by locals and authorities.
