@MissAVuk She actually was. Not as a drug addiction but she was told that she was too fat and ugly so they gave her pills and such to make her more "pretty". In reality she was gorgeous just slightly chubby so the abuse wasn't necessary.

With judy - The pills started in her early teens. Uppers were considered harmless then, and were given for weight control and energy. And of course, with uppers camer insomnia, so they gave downers. At the time, 30's -50's like cocaine in the 70's, no one knew what harm they could do. So they gave them freely. By her 20's, she was hooked bigtime. She was sixteen at the time of Wiz, and her developments were a big problem. So, yes, they were bound. Dorothy, after all, is only ten in the book.

MGM gave her separate drugs, some to wake her up, some to put her to bed and some to help her lose weight all during the filming of 'Oz'.

@xPeeriePixiex Judy was only 16/17 at the time of the film. Her drug addiction came later I think.
