@CroppyBoy1798 It's an urban myth. Accoriding to the director and Nigel Hawthorne, the actor who played George III, it was changed because they wanted to clarify it was about a king as American doesn't have royalty. For me, either one could be true.

@Ariel62073 Oh, he was mad alright, he suffered from a disease called Porphyria, which affects the brain. No cure for that in those days!
-
Was this man "mad," or was this man simply a little bit "German"?
-
I actually heard that the people liked him better when he was nuts.

@williamparky I'd already bought the King's speech from HMV when I found out that if I'd just gone to Sainsbury's I'd not only get it cheaper, but with this film free too.
So angry now.

Great performance from all the cast in a witty and moving film.

I got this for free with the Kings Speech, thanks to Sainsbury's :)

Our Monarchy has always been interesting. In this rapid change world, we have atleast something that we all can take for granted: Our noble Monarchy...

I believe it was originally called 'The Madness of Kign George III', but they thought it better to just call it 'The Madness of King George' as the American audience would wonder where were parts I and II......lol, just saying what I heard once.
