Tyler Bray Career Night Powers Kingsburg to Valley Championship

Kingsburg quarterback Tyler Bray capped off his senior season with possibly his finest performance of the season, as the Vikings cruised past Taft, 47-16, for the CIF Central Section Division IV Championship on Friday at Kingsburg.

Bray, the Tennessee-commit, picked apart the Wildcats, going 19-for-23 for 256 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. The senior signal caller even had 43 yards rushing, including a four-yard run and leap into the endzone for a score.

The often-unrecognized Kingsburg defense locked up a usually-lethal rushing attack. Cody Sherrifs, one of the best running backs in the Valley, was limited to 103 yards on 18 carries and no rushing touchdowns. Brice Royal picked up 125 yards on the ground, but 75 of which came off a touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, when the game was already out of reach.

Kingsburg backup quarterback London Lacy, committed to UC Davis, came in and completed 3-of-4 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. In all, nine Vikings caught a pass on the night. Senior wideout Dylan Newbill led the corp with three catches for 100 yards.

The win finished a perfect storybook 13-0 season for Kingsburg. While Taft concluded a 10-3 season that took them to the Valley Championship game.
