TARA Akshar

The TARA Akshar Literacy Programme teaches completely illiterate people how to read and write in 30 days.
This Programme teaches completely illiterate hindi-speaking women to read and write. Not just sign their name, or recognize a few letters, but real reading and real writing. The programme uses completely new techniques and has been an great success.
The Programme have 291 centres across Northern India. The programme is probably the fastest, most effective literacy project in the World.
Over 25,000 students graduated in 2007.
It took two years to develop this programme from scratch using fundamental learning principles, as well as some new ones.
