In this video, you see an example of the possibilities for teleparticipation in the novel IbnSina theatre installation (Dr. Nikolaos Mavridis, Interactive Robots and Media Lab, UAEU). The stage of the physical theatre, on which humans, robots, and sensors reside, has a wall which directly connects to the Twinity online virtual world (similar to second life). Thus, a human-controlled avatar in Twinity, can enter in a special apartment, whose wall "connects" and acts as a gateway to the real world: to the theatrical stage of the Ibn Sina theatre. This bidirectional "wall" connecting the physical to the virtual thus enables teleparticipation of humans controlling avatars, and interaction between virtual characters, humans, and robots! You also see the Ibn Sina robot, the world's first arabic speaking android- many more videos of which can be found on Youtube.
