Now we know where George Lucas got his X-Wing + Astromech droid combo idea from. R2D2 = Space suit/repair module . Maybe one day the space suit idea will be converted to adapt a repair droid & probe, I'm sure it will go full circle.

I wonder what those weird helmets with a white thingy on top were for?
It doesn't look like anything that could be of any use unless its to check on health.

Got some old photos of the suits and other things they had on the show, they are lights that point in the direction your looking. (or at least that was what the caption says anyway. Not sure if they are official photos or something I found when I was a kid when this came out)

Yeah, I did get a kick out of just that. And the captain's need for 2 helmets! And the ONLY thing I found ridiculous in the whole series... that 'pressurized space suit'. It was more like a 'space dredel'! What late night session led to THAT? ;-)

Die geniale Oosterbuur voorspelde zonder het te beseffen de Apollo 13, ook dit nog denkbeeldige schip kwam met een kapotte tank te zitten...

This is Apollo 13 in the fifties...Also a broken tank, but this one could be easily repaired...
