  • is this amp loud enough to play shows hooked up to a 4x12 cab?

  • @jharrelson31 It's 50 watts.... which is lot of volume. More than enough (on its own) for shows I played.

  • this amp goes to rock like acdc, led zeppelin, oasis etc?

  • @alpilon23 Those three bands all used varying brands of amps including Marshall, Orange, Supro, Hiwatt, Vox, Fender, etc. ... so it might be hard to nail all those tones with this one as it is geared more toward modern style gain.

It's decent in the all around game, but to get those tones, I'd probably start looking in the Marshall camp first. Seems that may have had the most overlap between those three acts.

  • I own this amp , not very versitile and the cleans are thin , great recto sound , but thats it

  • @gravano2 Might want to check out your tubes or something, because I never once thought this amp was thin.

  • @jharrelson31 its TOO loud

  • I just picked up a series 1 on Craigslist for $700. I am so impressed with the quality and range of sounds that can be produced. This amp has a fantastic clean sound with my Les Paul (challenging), and the lead channel absolutely screams! FYI, the lead channel can be used in vintage mode, which does a great job for a modern AC/DC type of sound. Highly recommend!

  • @gravano2 ,couldn't disagree more, check your amp settings or get your amp checked, I´ve played this through a fender strat and tele for years and can make it sound fat as hell. It's a pretty versatile amp.

  • @nono77420 No more Mesa for me - I am sure the Mark V is great but I am now Marshall forever

  • @gravano2 mark V is definatly better

  • @gravano2 ANYTHING but thin.... Check your eq.... treble and presence set to high can make your ears bleed.

  • @jharrelson31 YES. I had this Recto Combo, and I would have the gain on about 5.5, and the Volume up to 7/8 and every one would tell me to turn it down. The trick with these Mesas are tweaking the EQ, and preamp/power amp to get that sweet spot. Mesa are notorious for tweaking until you hit that MARK l II III IV, etc. Very Heavy AMPS Built like War Machines,(high End Components that Mr. Smith is Famous for) and can also be very unforgiving if your chops suck. Practice, an Play Hard
