karen has the range she used to stilll.....butt as you get older your voice changed...karern's voice did get a tad bit lighter which helps her with the c6 and d6...she can do c6 and d6 more than ;lashun can kmaur21!

Just Annointed!

But what I would say about KCS hoarse or not she ripping it, she been singing so long she can sing any format and any style hoarse or not! Them folks singing with her better hope she ain't good voice cause when she is in its her voice is ridiculous!

@okebaram I think Karen should more rest of her voice now that she is in her 50's and pace her concerts in my opinion to perserve her voice. Thats how alot singers got nodules Whitney is example of this. In 80's and 90's Whitney was singing back to back no rest and it caused major damage. Notice Twinkie rested alot of her voice when she was in her late 40's and 50's and now her voice is clear as bell. Also KCS is at that menopause age range and that sometimes causes hoarseness too!!!!!!!!!!

@okebaram You know whos voice is getting higher and higher it seems is Twinkie. Twinkie has been resting them pipes and she can belt as high as Karen basically if she wanted and always could somewhat but her tone was much raspier younger. But now Twinkie tone is clear as bell and she can go higher and higher on good days. Karen only problem is sings so so so much lately. From 2007-2011 I bet she sung more concerts than she has from 1997-2002 for sure and she was younger then.

@okebaramI agree but I still think Lashun can do those notes even hoarse and thats what I feel so incredible about her. Karen sings the most often out of all them and is older thats why she has some hoarse moments where she does not always go up there. But I do give KCS her props she knows what she is doing cause she is 50 and could still hit those notes when she feels it. Chrystal Rucker is young still but I don't see her getting up there when she Karen's age as easily as well as Nikki.

@Vocellist2010 based on my own voice analysis lol, Karen's voice type includes an attribute that makes her range less susceptible to age compared to average. Chrystal Rucker too is like that. Nikki Ross,Lashun Pace, Coko and Lorraine Stancil on the other hand will tend to experience a greater top-range loss at the third change in their voices but it can be countered with a change in placement for their top range which will also tend to become relatively heady or shrill tonewise

@kmaur21 you know what, these videos we see of Karen and the others is when they are hoarse, because they are on tour which means singing back to back. People who know them singers like Karen, Nikki Ross, Lashun, Chrystal Rucker, Nakitta Clegg, etc have said that their ranges are even higher, but they are usually on tour in these performances and live singing is def not when you sing your highest. I'm sure Karen, Lashun, Chrystal Rucker etc can hit C6 and D6 anytime if they really wanted to.
Motha changed the key and she STILL hollered on it! LOVE HER!!!
