Efofe Masquerade is sponsored by Okpella elders and appears as part of the culmination of the annual Ancestral or Olimi festival held in several communities. Efofe means "The more you look, the more you have to look. You will never fully understand it, so you have to keep looking at it." This one had been refurbished by Lawrence Ajanaku and was filmed in the Okpella community of Ogiriga, Etasko Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria. 2003. For more information, see Borgatti, Okpella Masking Traditions, African Arts,IX, 4, 24-33 (1976) and From the Hands of Lawrence Ajanaku, Museum of Cultural History Pamphlet Series Vol. 1, 6. UCLA. 1979. See also http://www.nmafa.si.edu/exhibits/playful/worldindex.html
