The 'Pregnant Pause', led by Christine Rogan, a group of supporters who wish to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking alcohol while pregnant, pause for three minutes in central Auckland.
This 'pregnant pause' recognised each trimester of pregnancy, from each of the three minutes it lasted. This event was held at 9.09am, 09/09/09 (FASDAY), in Queen St, opposite Shortland St, Auckland City, New Zealand.
FASD, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, is the leading cause of preventable intellectual disability in the Western World (World Health Organisation). There is no known safe amount of alcohol that can be drunk at any stage of pregnancy, without risking serious lifelong harm to the unborn child.
