Of the many complaints lodged against Ableton Live by users of DJ Software such as Serato and Traktor, the lack of cue points is one of the most recurrent. Whereas most DJ software allow you to create multiple cue points within the track--such as Intro, Chorus, Buildup, etc.--Ableton has no such thing. Luckily, there is a way to get around this with this simple trick that will allow you to make cue points to your little heart's content.

  • thanks for the video dude I appreciate it, I just have one problem though that I cant figure out, is it possible to add locators to somewhere that doesnt have those lines? kinda like in the middle of an audio clip at a random spot?

  • @dudeputthataway1 it is indeed, although it has to be at least on a subdivision of 16th notes. If it isn't, you can always warp the clip until it is!

  • thanks for the tutorial! making a set with this is gonna be so much fun.

  • Too much work for something so simple. Copy clip, set start and end points on new clip. Do this for as many "cue" points you want. Select all clips, drag all clips to your file browser, rename the folder to your song name. Now when you are DJing you can drag the folder to your Live set and POOF! Magic. All clips are dropped into your set. Done. The nice thing is that you don't clutter your drive with WAV files doing this. I can warp and set cues for an entire track in about 2 minutes.

  • how would one be able to do it on the fly during a set. Doing everything before limits what you feel like playing during a set. There should be a better way...

  • Nicely done thanks.
