Silverchair debuted a couple of new songs at Groovin' The Moo in Bendigo. "Going on Sixteen" is the first of the two that were played, and it showcases the new direction they are taking with their sound.

  • Without Chris' bass, I think this song would sound like a cheap music. I'd prefer their complicated and rich music like in Diorama and Neon Ballroom.

  • @TheBurningwaco Why would he write sad music? He's dating a supermodel.

  • this song reminds me of David Bowie

  • godammit why couldn't they wait til they finished the album to break up? we waited 4 years and they quit a few metres from the finish line? and i don't buy the "moving in different directions" crap. silverchair was always the daniel johns show. they're tellin me chris and ben were into the direction of 'if you keep losing sleep' 4 years ago? gimme a break. why couldnt they just finish this last album as a parting gift to the fans?

  • So this is why they broke up? Seems like a good decision to me. Not that I think that the music is ultimately that bad (it's quite good) but seriously, this ain't silverchair anymore and they knew it.

  • Holy shit......what happens with Silverchair?aaaarrrrrrrrgh....

  • Funky Daniel *morning hard on* :P

  • @hugofernanades don't you think silverchair are the ones to decide what their identity is to be? Were in no place to tell Daniel what he should be writing...just saying. YM was a hard pill to swallow to some old fans but they have gained a bigger audience now just the same. :)

  • when they went to freak show to neon ballroom tht was evolution, they changed their sound but maintain quality, but after diorama they completely lost their identity

  • having said all that....im not totally feeling this song. lol. however, i fully believe the new album will blow my mind in all sorts of ways. cannot wait to get the new album the day it comes out...take it home...light up a bowl of the best weed i can find...and let my consciousness absorb into a new universe of sound.

  • They're like alanis morissette, they just don't care about selling out anymore, they just make music, true artists

  • man, Chris's bass playing is sounding DELICIOUS! A funkier Silverchair! Fantastic!
