This video shows you every thing you'll need to get the high-resolution mod on Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II working properly.

A bunch of people helped me get it working. I made a video tutorial to simplify the process, and uploaded a single .z file with everything you need to get the best texture sets working. http://www.mediafire.com/?91y53bjjkuzrkw4. Here's the link to the video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBwj8TcGuS8

Install these:
Windows .NET Framework: http://bit.ly/dzMnWE
Steam: http://bit.ly/1Wkh2s
Your latest video card drivers with Steam
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II from Steam

The .z contains these, so you can ignore the links and do what the instructions say.
Get smackw32.dll: http://bit.ly/fZfwEd - your main jedi knight folder
Get jkpatch: http://bit.ly/hkbhwy - main jedi knight folder

Get Jedi Knight Enhanced: http://bit.ly/hCo88A
Get Jedi Knight Retexture: http://bit.ly/ebQHBm
Create a folder called "Mod"
Drop JKE.gob and JKR.gob into Mod
RMB JK.exe- Properties - Compatibility. Check Disable visual themes and check Disable desktop composition. Click Apply. RMB JK.exe - Create shortcut.
RMB JK.exe - Shortcut - Properties. At the end of the Target line, type in "-windowgui -path Mod" Click Apply.

Double-click JK.exe - Shortcut to start the game. Go to Players - Single Player. Create a profile. After the game starts, hit Esc - Setup - Display. Check Enable 3D Acceleration. Check Backbuffer in System Memory. Set 3D Accelerator min texture size to 1. Select your screen resolution and bit depth.

If you have a save game you want to continue, then you will have to end the level first to get the textures working. Hit the t key - type in thereisnotry and hit Enter.

  • hey when i try to install this my textures and models are all stretched and even not with this installed, when 3d accelerator is on it always do this, how do i fix it?

  • @MrVasquese

    1. Read all posts.

    2. The models are stretched too? Man, I've had the textures stretch, but deforming the geometry is a different story. Maybe you've got the resolution set incorrectly.

    3. You could try restarting the level afterwards, but if it's doing it even without the mod, it's more likely that the texture index is referencing wrong. Start from scratch, slowly following each step--try doing one step, start it up, then if it has problems, redo it. Plz make a Spanish version.

  • what if i dont have steam but have the game?

  • @MrVasquese Then get Steam.

You can skip the Steam-specific instructions, but you should still do the shortcut editing steps.

The only people that have a hard copy of this game are warezers and old people. Be one of the cool kids.

I don't know how it works either. Maybe you got the wrong version of the .net framework.

  • @joeybuddy96 when I tried it is said the same thing, it said the framework download wasn't compatible with a x64 operating system

  • @younggunsfan I don't know. It could be because you are starting it up from the wrong launcher. It should be started up from jk.exe, not Jedi.exe or anything else. I never had problems once I got it running; I only had problems with the initial start up. You try Massassi [DOT] net yet? That's where I got the info to make this tutorial, and really, I'm just an end user, not one of the creators of the mods.

  • how can I run DFII With out this on Windows 7?

I get game freezes when I pick up any item, and I experience Rainbow Colors.

    How do I fix this?

  • @bluewulv Can you post a link to the original music? I have the Steam version, so I'd genuinely like to know if the music is different. I hope it's just because I turned the music off, and not because the music really is different, but you're my only hope of knowing whether that's the case. Thanks! :)
