@Aussie50 I use to file some down and burn it (with a welding mask:) ;for the sake of chemistry, prolly u and jagnut would have fun with sacrificial anodes if you would:D

There was a related incident over here recently, a big coffee machine in a cafeteria went bang, caused a scary amount of damage, people hurt etc.

Cool, reminds me of a Mythbuster activitity they did; they got a normal electric water heater tank, removed the relief valve and thermostat, filled it up with water, plugged up all entries and turned it on, 30mins later,.,,,,,, explosion, dangerous but awesome the tank flew up in the air:D

@Aussie50 Cool, I would too, but I live next to a Primary School :(
It actually took 50minutes:D .....I think water tank sacricficial anodes are made of magnesium, they make good companions with fire

@BiLock102 lol I used to take a file to the MG rods as a kid and mix the filings with potassium permanganate powder :D
how I never lost an eyebrow to that stuff I never know ;)
