it reminds me of the isolated 5 hour bus rides from university to home on winter holidays with nothing to do except staring at endless uniform scenery. there was a warm, calming feeling of hope and happiness... a timeless moment in my life. i remember listening to this song.

@mooruka Oh dear ! Sorry mooruka ! Maybe my sarcastic sense of humour got lost in translation a bit ! It` was a retort to another comment if i remember.....? The Smiths had an album called "The Queen Is Dead" ! The last comment should have told most folk it was a bit of "Dry" Scottish humour! Jimmy Page was the guitarist with Led Zeppelin ! Sorry sweetie ! There IS a cool version of "Hand In Glove" with Sandie Shaw on youtube if you want to hear The Smiths with female vocalist ! Peace Ye`All !!

Positive proof that folk music was in good health in the eighties thanks to Suzanne Vega and this little gem!

I still have my original vinyl of this wonderful LP ~ got to see her live in the mid 80's sometime ~ this looks like from around that same time. Amazing to hear after all these years.

I love this song. It gives me goosebumps.

The only debut album I know of that starts with a misfretted, buzzing guitar note. I am sure they left it in for a purpose, maybe to express fragility and vulnerability.
