Brady's MARA

Brady had a MARA put on with his braces to fix his overbite. A MARA is short for a Mandibular Anterior Repositioning Appliance. It looks painful, but after a day or two, you get used to it. He was pretty upset at first, but he's fine now.

I love this video! It shows how traumatic orthodontic appliances can be for children. Hopefully one day they will invent a way to straighten teeth that don't involve things that look like and feel like "torture devices" Thank you so much for posting this video.

@tmjdkim Yeah, it looks bad, but the MARA is a pretty good appliance. He got used to it after a few days and it did it's job very well. He was lucky, and got it off within a year. Compared to the monster I had to wear when I was a kid, the MARA is a huge leap foward.

i had mara since I was twelve yrs old. It didn't bother me in one bit. I'm sure brady will understand tht mara is helping our teeth so our teeth won't grow bend out of shape. My message to brady tht he needs to understand how important mara is.

@MrAndrewhasty21 Thanks. Yep, he got use to his MARA. He is counting down the days till it comes off, but that won't be for a couple years.

i had a mara. it hurt so bad to get it off. it felt like they were crushing my molars. good luck!
