Paulina and Jake--For Our Brothers

Paulina tells Jake she doesn't want to fight with him. Jake tells her to stay away from Kevin, please. Paulina says she has to do what she feels is right. Jake knows that everyone thinks he's the jealous brother crying wolf, but what if he's right? What if he's the only one who knows the truth? Paulina asks Jake, what if he's wrong, and she knows something that could help solve Lucas's murder and help Kevin find the murderer? Paulina is not going to back down on this. Jake says in that case, he wants to be there when she talks to Kevin. This is about her safety, and the subject is closed. Paulina tells Jake he better believe it's closed, and that he doesn't have time to meddle in other people's business. She gives him a manila envelope, and when he asks her what it is, she tells him it's Jamie's lawsuit, and Jake was supposed to give his written response to Jamie's lawyer yesterday. Jake pulls out the legal document and starts reading it but doesn't get very far before he throws it aside in anger, refusing to answer it. Paulina tells him to read it, because he's in enough trouble already and needs to be armed. Jake heads for the phone then and says he's going to call Kelsey and offer to be a witness for her. Paulina yanks the receiver out of his hand and hangs it up, saying this is totally out of hand, then asks Jake if he meant it when he told Kevin that he was sorry Paulina was stuck in the middle of this mess with Jamie. Jake tells Paulina she knows he meant it. Paulina says then they need to try to work it out with Jamie. Jake reminds her that he's not welcome at the Cory Mansion and reminds her of, "you, me, Rachel, bad time," but Paulina tells Jake she's afraid of what will happen if they don't try to work it out with Jamie. If this goes to court, it could ruin everything Paulina ever had with Jamie. He's her brother, and she needs him in her life. Jake says Jamie won't back down, no matter how nice Paulina is to him, until he puts Jake out of business. Paulina counters that Jamie's a fair man, and if they can get him to listen to them, they might be able to settle the problem peacefully and privately. Jake asks what happens if they can't. Paulina says then she'll still have her family--Jake and Hannah. But if it does work out, she could have so much more. Jake agrees to go to the Cory Mansion with Paulina if Paulina promises not to talk to Kevin alone. Paulina agrees that Jake can be there when she talks to Kevin. Jake says they should go talk to Jamie because they've got a lot of work to do. Paulina hugs him, he hugs her back, and then they head over to the Cory Mansion. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
