Earl died today at age 88; a true banjo legend who will always be remembered as "The man" when it comes to the 5-string banjo. He'll be very much missed. Hope he's a pickin' and a grinnin' in a better place...Farewell Earl, we love ya'

No uproar enough in France about that terrible loss. For a lot of us, Earl Scruggs will stay in our memories and in our hearts as the ultimate banjo player. He drastically changed the way of considering this instrument playing technics. The Scruggs keys or pegs are now well known by musicians. Earl managed to universalize the banjo to all kind of music, going out the bluegrass/country universe. He was a humble and life respectuous man. We'll miss you til the end, Mister Scruggs. Good Bye.

Damn shame, I learnt to pick a 5 string Scruggs style, never got too far before we moved house and sold the banjo, but hell could I pick... even rigged up a bunch of different car horns to my mother's car with a panel of pushbuttons to operate all of the horns, sat my brother down and we had ourselves a little car horn/airhorn and banjo duet...
