The song, "Children of Bodom", is from the album "Hatebreeder". Which you can find available here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000IN5G/qid=1140243290/sr=8-...

Alexi was only 21 (going 22) that time. Awesome guitar skill, despite his vocal's underperformance.

  • one more thing:

looking through the comments there are seemingly too many kids who don't know shit about that band.

some things that need to be corrected:

this is NOT roope, it's alexander kuoppala.

alexi doesn't drink before shows (use google).

his playing didn't get any worse, his style of approaching solos and melodies has changed, that's all. kissing the shadows definitely IS the hardest one to play in one piece. and one last thing: stop bitching around and just enjoy the music.

  • The sound is horrible but this live must be awesome!!

  • 4:40 I want you! =)

  • yeah rite alexi doesn't drink before shows he drinks during the shows :P

  • @MrLuciferion

well, i've seen them one month ago and paid close attention to his playing - of course he was a little sloppy, that's no news, but he made a great performance overall and only drank water (!). speaking of getting better or worse, i just think he isn't able to nail the old songs the way he used to simply because they don't really play them as much as thes used to, but he still lays down some great solos in the studio (ugly. roadkill morning).

  • @MParseface38 you're right about everything, except one thing...alexi's playin' is getting worse...he's falling apart because of alcohol...just listen towards dead end at wacken, you don't need any more proof and his style of writing songs is completly different...in a bad, very band way, these new songs are more metalcore and new songs can't get even close to the old ones...accept reality....

  • @MParseface38 Nah, bro. The solos in AYDY/BD are actually more technical than stuff from Hatebreeder and Follow The Reaper. My guess is he just doesn't practice as much anymore though. There's a certain sense of drive and passion that young guitarists (who haven't made it huge yet) have that dies after they become mainstream.

  • @MParseface38 He didnt drink at shows when he was young but now he does because.. well lets just admit it, hes an alcoholic. He even says to cure the hangover from the day before he drinks the day after it and the cycle runs on until a break. But I think the band was at its prime at Follow the Reaper.

  • It would be REALLY nice if those assholes could keep the camera on his guitar during the solo.

  • @MParseface38 His playing did get worse. It's pretty easy to see how much cleaner he plays the same solos from old songs in 1998-2003 compared to playing those same songs nowadays. Also, watch some live Sinergy footage. It's honestly like listening to two entirely different guitarists, regardless of stylistic differences.

This song fucking rules. The speedy intro is the best part =D
