  • Im an ak guy and I do know what im talking about nothing laughable about it so u say. im not here to bash the ar I have two they are to very different firearms its like Apples to oranges I prefer the ak for the same resin I prefer the glock it may be ugly but its a tool and it always gets the job done I know its been said many times before but reliability is number one in my book (when your life's on the line its the only thing that matters )

  • @FIRE2WILL83 Very true. Reliability can not be compromised on when your life may be on the line. That being said I would trust my life to a good Milspec AR that I shot and maintained myself the same as I would a quality AK. Not a U.S. made AK with exception of a very few builders and not with a non spec AR.

  • I find the AR's to be a bit pricy. Where I can seem to get AK's much cheaper. Just my 2 cents...LOL

  • @1timby A good AK and a good AR will cost you just about the same. Example Arsenal and Stag plus package. Or you can buy cheap of each, Wasr and Smith and Wesson

  • i couldnt decide whether to get one or the either, so i decided to get both.

  • @ShotsPB Now that is what I like to hear 8 )

  • My Source: four years as an 11b.I am addressing the issue of the design flaw which makes me dislike the AR.You take all of the gas from the round and put it in the tightest part of the weapon. On an AK or G3 style piston driven weapon, the gas in consolidated in a very open space at the front of the weapon allowing for more rounds to be fired without gunk preventing it.I have experienced this first hand after about 120 rounds through my M4 on any given day.Yes I know how to maintain and clean it.

  • Its not even really fair to comare the two rifles. They are not designed for the same purpose. The ak is a battle rifle. It has to work no matter what and at the same time be cheep. The ar is a dmr. Its desinged for acuracy, not relyablity. Also it can be as costly as it needs to be. Its like comparing a mac-11 to a glock. The two riffles are really different.

  • dont see no problems with each only the ding-a-ling who cant shoot or properly maintain their weapon!

  • They are both great rifles. The AK is the small block Chevy of rifles. Simple, reliable, brutal. I think that people hate them because they are the weapon of most of our enemies.(but we made them our enemies) But Remember Red Dawn ! Wolverines !!!! I have an AR because I want to buy American ! But if an AK meets my hands I will embrace it !! They are equally great ! it comes down to which ammo is easier to get !!!

  • Lol...chintzy? Who says that? I have never heard even the most raving AR obsessed AK bashing douchebag claim that the AK is "chintzy!"

  • There is a differance between "owning & shooting" and going into cambat with . A gun is made to fight. I was in Afgahnistan and saw trigger time. my m-4 i had to clean like i had to wipe my ass...

  • The AR 15 isn't select fire. Your story sounds like bullshit to me 135735733 or whatever your tag is.

  • I own two of each and I love them the same.

  • i have a M16-A1 and a AK-74 I would not trade them for any other rifle in the world. I had an AK-47 but in my opinion the 7.62x39 round just didn't have the power for pushing such a big round down the range that i liked. I stick by my M16 aka the AR-15 because they are one in the same the only difference is M16 is the military name for it. but when i'm messing around in the dirt the AK is far superior for the fact that it doesn't have the tight fitting parts like the M16.they are both the best.
