The idea of a work-study school was first sparked by James Forsythe, a young missionary assigned to the region. Forsythe witnessed the Ozarks' youth in desperate need of education and expressed his dream of building a Christian based institution. This dream became a reality in 1906 when The School of the Ozarks broke ground not far from Branson, Missouri.
Today, C of O offers degrees in 40 plus academic areas and has an enrollment of 1,400. After more than 100 years of academic excellence, faculty, staff and students hold steadfast to the values handed down by past generations at "Hard Work U."
