Johnny Vatos Tribute to Halloween - Hothouse Rehearsal

Another typical day and night at Hothouse rehearsal. Johnny Vatos Tribute to Halloween is in studio A getting ready for their performance on Friday night (10/20/06) at the Greek theater. Ten Years after the band Oingo Boingo's Farewell Show (Halloween 1995). Johnny Vatos, the drummer for Oingo Boingo decided to do a show for the true loyal Oingo Boingo fans. He came up with the "Johnny Vatos Tribute to Halloween." He got other fellow band members [John Avila (bass), Steve Bartek (lead guitar), Sam "Sluggo" Phipps (sax)] from Oingo Boingo to participate in a show dedicated to the fans. Dramarama and X will also be performing at the show on Friday. John Easdale and Dramarama were in the auditorium at the hothouse last night getting ready for the Friday night show too. All we need is to get X in the hothouse to complete the trifecta.

They did, FOR LIKE 15 or 20 YEARS

(1975/1980 until 1995) and now it looks like Vatos, Bartek, Sluggo, and Avila have been doing Halloween shows together for at least the last 2 or 3 years.

Most of these guys (Elfman included) are in their 50's now: what do you expect them to do? Perform the same songs over and over until they need walkers and drivers?

maybe danny should talk to pete townsend on how he manages to perform with the who now.if there is a will there is a way!

I know they can't tour any more, but I'd love for them to release a new cd.

Danny officially said that he couldn't put Oingo Boingo back together 'cause he's lost a lot of his hearing and he's afraid he'll lose the rest of it if he goes back to performing the loud music of the past. :-( The interview used to be on oingoboingo-dot-com, but it's been removed for some reason. It looks like he'd love to do it all again, but just can't. Love you Danny !
