NS V02 rolling past Arwood Road (newly replaced from decrepit 8 3/8" signals with two mechanical bells) with a very short train. Check out this rare unit and horn: an ex-N&W SD40-2 with a Leslie RS5T horn! RIGHTEOUS!

  • Nice one 5* he's flying!

  • Thanks, I like the locals on this line, unfortunately this one, V02, goes from Waverly onward, so I don't see him at Ivor or Windsor. I've always liked the fact that the locals run with SD40-2s a lot of the time. Sometimes they run the ex-Southern high hoods (see "NS V02 westbound at New Bohemia"), but mostly it's the ex-N&W versions with the low nose.

  • I wonder why their is no sign on the crossing gates indicating the number of tracks?? There is clearly more than 1 track !

  • Just to verify, was that 6078?

  • those are actually electronic bells, they do sound like the mechanical bell but dont let that fool ya

  • As far as what my calendar looks like right now I plan to squeeze in at least one trip to Mountain Road this Summer.

  • Haha it did a little bit.

  • Take that back. 50 may be a little high, but with the coal/empties, additional new intermodals, and grain trains, it should be at least 40 daily. I don't know though, it may reach 50 daily at point. We'll just have to see... :)

  • This line is fairly active. It gets about 20 trains daily. It was up to 30, but the coal traffic just dropped because of the economy. It'll probably go back up, once the Heartland Corridor is finished, double stacks will be able to run to and from the Midwest. I also heard something about unit grain trains being added to this line, which will be neat, because this line doesn't see grain trains. My guess is that the line will end up with about 50 trains daily by the summer with the new trains.

  • try ayer massachusets, theres always trains every day!
