  • It is a 100%, not 50 or 20 but 100% certain that our paper dollar will fail eventually, not a matter of IF but WHEN!!!

  • Plus, how do you know what our fathers would say? I THINK they would say AMEND the constitution...not rip it into shreds....as long as we ignore it...we are doomed to REPEAT history, which means even though things have changed, PRINCIPLES (virtues, freedom, morality) DO NOT CHANGE. THIS INCLUDES ECONOMIC LIBERTY. Anyone who thinks going back to the gold standard is not viable in these "changed" times has not studied history...PAPER CURRENCIES HAVE BEEN TRIED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS AND ALWAYS FAIL

  • That's what the amendment process is for.

  • So then, do you think Ron Paul would be a suitable president?

  • We need to be conscientious about where we have strayed from it and why, and then very self-consciously, we need to amend it carefully. This has to be done with great care and wisdom.

We must not pretend to follow it, and then stray so far away that we are cast adrift, or allow cheating and corruption. But being fundamentalist and attempting to follow it to the letter while ignoring the changed needs of the world and the people of our time is foolish as well.

  • It is appealing to revert to a strict interpretation of the Constitution because it is clear and simple. We need people like Ron Paul to help cut through the mess. But, were the writers of it to be alive today, they wouldn't expect us to be using the same document in these changed times.
