This is it: Every TV collector's pride to own. A vintage Philco 21" B&W TV. It was purchased for $100. The TV will need to be restored before I can use it.

  • It's common for the tube sockets to have broken contacts in these sets :(

  • @bandersentv I am going to be talking to quite a few people about restoring this type of TV as I have never restored any philco predicta TVs. I know I can get it going after replacing all caps, resisters, etc. I am happy to know that there seems to be one can type electrolytic cap in the TV. I noticed the flyback is shedding its skin and was wondering if you have some ideas to used to re-seal the flyback? I know I will have some questions for you as well.

  • Sweet old tv, so the $100.00 question, dues it work?

  • @redneckbryon no it does not

  • Any progress in this tv?

  • That looks like a fantastic find. I hope you enjoy fixing 'er up. Nice videos btw. Thanks for posting :)

  • Nice find. Good luck on restoring it.

  • I think that's a 58 or 59 set. I don't remember if the 21 inch tube uses a very low voltage filament or not. If you have a CRT tester make sure to start it out at 2 volts and wait to see if the filament lights. Otherwise you'll might kill that near unobtanium CRT!

Also grab a sams photofact before you start restoring it. There are molded circuit packs for the vertical circuit that you'll need to create.

  • O_O .......fuuuuuccckkk

  • Congrats! That's the Holiday model. Blonde sets are generally rarer and more valuable :)
