http://www.1aauto.com shows you how to replace a front control arm on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. This procedure is exactly the same for any 1995-2005 Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire. This procedure is also generally the same for any vehicle with a macpherson front strutsuspension. As you can see by the video this is an involved replacement but it is not impossible for the do-it-yourselfer. Access to a lift is a big plus but not necessary. You may need to replace the front control arms on your car if you are feeling a pulling when braking and that pull is transferring to your hands through the steering wheel. This repair is moderate. It requires a floor jack, jack stands, and then basic tools, wrenches, hammers, pry bars. Beyond that it does require a "pickle fork" or ball joint fork which is a more specialized tool that not everyone has in their DIY tool set.

  • @brandonmadams Glad To Help. Next time you need parts for your car please check out 1A Auto dot com.

  • how long would you say it would take to replace both right and left lower control arms? was quoted 5 hours but from the looks of how you replaced it i would say 1.5 hrs a side maybe 2 max?

  • @narutokun0420 A professional should be able to do both in 2-3 hours total, BUT I can understand them quoting extra time in case they run in to a problem such as breaking a bolt or something along those lines.

  • Nice video ...what is the name of the piece that u install at the minute 8:08?

  • @d053972727 Not sure what the official name is but it is probably something like the "front left subframe to front bumper brace".

  • @1aauto is this job pretty comparable for a 2006 saturn?

  • Mine is total rusted out the tire is rubbing the front wheel well... I'm not sure this car is worth saving anymore one thing after another
