From October 14th - November 3rd, 2008, Barefoot Workshops led a three-week program in the West Bank, teaching Palestinian organizations how to write, shoot, produce, and edit, Public Service Announcements (PSAs), to raise awareness about important social issues.

Twelve PSAs were produced on such topics as: labor law, honor killings, Palestinian land rights, community betterment, political unity between parties, gender relations, volunteerism and youth empowerment. The aim of the workshop was to foster greater civic participation, activism, and debate in the region of the Middle East by teaching civil society organizations how to create messages that can improve their societies from within. The workshop was supported by the United States Government Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), and Creative Associates International.
This 60-second PSA, created by Women's Affairs Technical Committee (WATC), addresses violence and gender relations by picturing panels of silhouetted figures of a man and a woman negotiating with each other non-verbally, through the movements of their shadows. The figure of the man suggests abuse as he threatens the woman with his fist. The figure of the woman suggests emotional and physical pain. Then her hands move against the white sheet that conceals her, as though searching. In the next panel, her arms release, like a dancer finding freedom. In the final interaction, the shadow of the man and woman stand opposite each another, and a rose-colored flower appears between them. Their hands come together, and a message appears, We always have the chance to talk.
