  • In calculators, why bother with coin cells, when most will work with solar cells, as Casio calculators do? Coin cells can function as backup in dark lighting, but modern solar cells are efficient enough to make batteries no longer needed since if ambient light isn't enough to easily see the LCD, it often won't power the calculator either.
