(WMG owns this not me)

(Lyrics)
Let us be lovers well marry our fortunes together
I've got some real estate here in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and mrs. wagner pies
And we walked off to look for america
Kathy, I said as we boarded a greyhound in pittsburgh
Michigan seems like a dream to me now
It took me four days to hitchhike from saginaw
I've gone to look for america

Laughing on the bus
Playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said be careful his bowtie is really a camera

Toss me a cigarette, I think theres one in my raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field

Kathy, Im lost, I said, though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I dont know why
Counting the cars on the new jersey turnpike
They've all gone to look for america
All gone to look for america
All gone to look for america

  • @keaster55 It's always iffy responding to year old comments, but...I believe the song you are referring to is "Fantasy" from All 'N All (1977). I am priveleged to know Maurice White's ex-wife, and also his nephew...The song was partly inspired by the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," and coincidentally, I also knew Dr. J. Alllen Hynek pretty well, the man whose work inspired "Close Encounters."

  • yes turned this into a good tune

  • 3 people never found it...

  • @masterinthemask62 There's plenty more where this has come from. Great literature is how people transcend the limitations of space and time. It's in art that you find all people are really one, with variations on a theme. Practice a little discipline, read Shakespeare and the mysteries of life will unfold as you never expected.

  • @redshiftexperiment Listen to this song a couple of more times and then start to write.

    Free association. You'll get there.

  • @killingamps Have you read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" and "Blue Highways". You certainly have your own story to tell. So tell it. What was the sky like over Kansas, the trees in _____ now you start from there.

  • @DannyDownNdirty Then you're ready to read W.B. Yeats and Shakespeare's sonnets. People who like Simon & Garfunkel are incipient lovers of literature. Expand your experience - you're there!

  • JUST GOOD MUSIC

  • @monkeyknife1 Same goes for todays politicans.

I blame the people of today, more thought machines than

humans with a courageous loving hearts.
