Tuffy McDonald at the controls of the Komatsu PC228USLC hydraulic excavator pioneering at new logging road for Idaho Forest Group. The PC228USLC has a zero tail swing that makes it more maneuverable in narrow spaces. By utilizing the CWS bucket and thumb he is able to unearth large stumps, boulders and move brush and timber. By picking up and dropping the large tree root stump he is able to knock out much of the dirt and debris so that it is more burnable/disposable in the slash/waste pile.

FYI: Video shot with Kodak zi8 HD camcorder @ 720p. Handheld using the image stabilization feature. Otherwise full automatic default settings.

  • @400sean Aww is the poor little tree hugger upset because trees are getting cut down?

  • This acually looks like fun. I have built trails by hand and on my grandpas riding lawn mower In Green Mountain Falls. The hills there are trousouses, Steep, dangerous. Its easy to flip some sort of machine on those damn mountains here in Colorado. You do one wrong move your world just went upside down.

  • sweet excavator
