Marian works at a government-run library. Rough animation of one of my characters for my next short film, "Vroom!". Animated by Ricardo de los Angeles. 2009.
Drawing yes, animating not so much. I would make flip books, and do short pencil tests of characters....and then I made a short film in high school but didn't do much animation. It wasn't till I got to community college where I started animating more and learning more. Then when I went to CalArts I learned alot more lol. I think you only get better with more practice and lot of trial and error. You have to be willing to fix mistakes even if you have to redraw alot of things. That's just me.
@kickmo Planning is a good word I'd use. I've been planning to be a Disney animator since I was 12. But I applied a few months ago for their apprenticeship and I got word back two weeks ago that I didn't get in. I was pretty bummed. They say it was really competitive and only had 3 spots open. As a consolation they said I made it to the top ten. So I just have to work harder and try again. I'm going to apply to Pixar too.
Thanks Cade, appreciate it! Aw man, I hope so soon, its just time consuming and I'm busy, and since I'm out of school now my resources are thin, so it could it take double the time to execute something. BUT, I'm not givin' up. So expect some stuff real soon!
I know this question will sound silly, but how's college goin'?
